CM2013 Review

The 15^th CHINA MINING Conference & Exhibition 2013 took place successfully at Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center of Tianjin on November 2-5, 2013. Under the theme of “Opportunities, Challenge and Development”, the congress provided a top platform of mining dialogue, exchange and cooperation for the whole mining sector.

A total of 7000 plus government officials, mining industry figures, experts and scholars from 55 countries and regions joined CHINA MINING 2013, adding over 1000 than last event. Of those 1300 delegates abroad, Sudan, Chile, Australia, Argentina and Canada organized strong participant entrants. 12 mining ministers or deputy ministers and 14 ambassadors（envoys）from such countries and regions as Australia, Canada, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Peru, Serbia, Greenland, India, Namibia, Argentina, Bolivia, attended this conference and made bilateral governments’ talks with leaders of Ministry of Land and Resources, China, and signing a series of cooperative agreements related with geological and mineral field. Over 5700 domestic representatives were from 31 provinces, municipal cities and autonomous regions and gold armed police corps.

CHINA MINING Congress and Expo 2013 consists of three parts - conferences, exhibition and coherent featured events.

CHINA MINING Conference & Exhibition 2013 introduced keynote session, mining ministers’ forum and mining development forum and another 34 sub-forums and 10 countries(regions) investment projects shows featuring rich content, high participation and strong interaction. The government officials, executives of financial institutions, the industry elites, and mining industry experts and scholars, with "opportunity, challenge and development" as the theme, made in-depth researches and discussions in terms of global mining situation and progress, mining and capital market, the mine safety and environmental protection and the release of mining investment opportunity. The ministers and deputy ministers, from Canada, Peru, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Namibia, Serbia, Greenland, India, Argentina, Bolivia, delivered speeches respectively on the mining ministers forum, introducing their mineral resources situation and expressing foreign cooperation intention, which received widespread attention of participants.

This exhibition covered a record area of 27000 square meters with 528 booths (or 1700 standard booths of 6 square meters), and more than 470 exhibitors. The   exhibitions of national land and resources systematical display area, national group pavilion, general mining area, mining equipment exhibition area, as well as special construction area built by the mining leader companies , provided an in-depth communication platform for investment, cooperation and trade. In more than five hundred booths, governments from Australia, Canada, Sudan, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, Papua New Guinea, Greenland, India took the group exhibitions. The 8^th China international mining equipment show over the same period provided mining equipment manufacturers and purchasers with the most authoritative and advanced mining technology and equipment trading platform.

During the conference, the annual meeting and the 3^rd Council of the 5th Session of China Mining Association were held, such special activities as pre-convention reception dinner named “the night of the Bank of China” , opening ceremony, welcome reception, bilateral meetings between Sino-Foreign ministers, project matchmaking and negotiation, awards party, and mining open day, etc., provided additional networking opportunities for the participants. In the award party, five kinds of the annual Outstanding Achievements Awards of CHINA MINING (including prospection and exploration, mine development, social responsibility , mine innovation and service & support) were awarded for the first time to the 15 units of winners by the leaders of the Ministry of Land and Resource and the municipality of Tianjin. CHINA MINING 2013 collected 368 matchmaking projects as a result of marketing and negotiation, including 240 domestic projects and 128 outbound ones.

As the global summit mining conferences and exhibition, CHINA MINING is dedicated to following a path towards sustainable development of China mining and to being a part of global mining development trends, improves its service quality unremittingly to create an high-end global mining cooperation platform for the boost of international cooperation and the realization of win-win development.

The Hon. Jiang Daming, Minister of Land and Resources, PRC addressed in the Opening Ceremony of CHINA MINING 2013 Jiang Daming said in his speech that the Chinese government attaches great importance to the mining industry`s capacity to support economic development, vigorously promotes the mining industry to realize scientific development, through mining prospection breakthrough action, comprehensive utilization of resources, the construction of green mining and harmonious mining area, continually strengthens resource support capability, makes great efforts to transform the use of resources and vigorously improves the efficiency of resource utilization...He points out that facing the problems and challenges of current difficult recovery of the world economy and of global mining in-depth adjustment, the whole mining sector should be more closely together to firm implement the open policy of cooperation, strengthen mining policy dialogue and market information sharing, promote the international scientific and technological cooperation of mining area and the experience exchange of technological innovation and management, promote mining investment liberalization and facilitation, and work together to build a mutually beneficial and win-win pattern for the supply, demand, and trade of global mineral commodities.
