"China has become the third country to achieve the industrialization of shale gas following the United States and Canada. The first half of this year witnessed the production of 18 cubic meters in shale gas."Reporter recently learned from the Innovation on Geological Science and Technology of the 2015 CHINA MINING Congress and Expo.
Mr. Zhai Gangyi, a PhD in Research Center of Oil and Gas Survey in China Geological Survey, made a report entitled "New Progress on Exploration and Development of China Shale Gas". He stated that all together 54 mining rights was granted in China for shale gas exploration with the exploration area reached 0.17 million square kilometers, mainly in Sichuan Basin and its surrounding where the total investment were more than 250 billion yuan. A total of 840 wells had been drilled by May this year; and shale gas of capable yielding 4.5 billion cubic meters/year had been built by July this year.
According to Zhai Gangyi, China was in a phrase of rapid growth in shale gas production since the first production of 25 million cubic meters in 2012. The production soared to 200 million cubic meters in 2013; while in 2014, the production reached a height of 1300 million cubic meters; it rocketed to 1800 million cubic meters in the first half of this year alone.
Zhai Gangyi believed that shale gas development in China still faced thrilling challenges: Firstly, though China`s shale gas resources were of great potential, enrichment law was not distinguished clear, especially when inadequate understanding on accumulation mechanism and enrichment law of different types would certainly jeopardize the further exploitation of the recoverable resources. Secondly, existing exploration was limited to some areas and several layers, hence major breakthrough should be made in the future. Thirdly, the percentage of homemade equipment and core technology should be further improved. The Fourth was the challenges result from sustained high drilling cost. (Yu Defu)
About CHINA MINING
Since first held in 1999, the scope and influence of CHINA MINING has grown rapidly year by year. As a global mining summit forum and exhibition, CHINA MINING Congress and Expo has become one of the world’s top mining events, and one of the world’s largest mining exploration, development and trading platforms, covering all aspects of the whole mining industry chain, including geological survey, exploration and development, mining rights trading, mining investment and financing, smelting and processing, mining techniques and equipment, mining services, etc. playing an active promotion role in creating exchange opportunities and enhancing mutual cooperation between domestic and foreign mining enterprises.
CHINA MINING Congress and Expo 2015 will be held at Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center in Tianjin on October 20th-23rd, 2015. We invite you to join the event and to celebrate the 17th anniversary of CHINA MINING with us. For more information about CHINA MINING 2015, please visit: m.balanzskin.com.
